Wellness services/ Preventative Medicine: Annual or semiannual wellness checkups, depending on age, are very important for your pet. Remember, one year of your pet's life comprises a much larger percentage of their lifespan than it does for us and much more can change in one year. A complete tip of the nose to tip of the tail exam is done which is communicated both verbally and in writing. All intructions are in writing. Vaccinations, heartworm testing for dogs, intestinal parasite testing, feline leukemia virus testing for cats, urinalysis, urine e.r.d. screens, and senior laboratory screens for older pets are needed. Dr. Yetter will visit with you regarding the specific needs of your pet based on age, breed, species, and your needs as a pet owner.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs. We have full service diagnostic capabilities using modern specialized equipment. This allows us to do most of our diagnostic work in the clinic allowing for faster diagnoses and better monitoring of hospitalized patients. We also make use of outside commercial labs for more specialized tests. We have a strong belief in making specific diagnoses if at all possible, which allows for specific treatment.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures, both soft tissue and orthopedic. Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures. To check for underlying health problems that could effect your pet's response to anethesia and surgery, we strongly encourage preanesthetic laboratory screening for pet's less than five years old, while being mandatory for pets five years old or more. Senior care: Just like us, our animal friends are at increasing risk for certain health problems as they get older. Around the age of seven (which is like about 50 for humans), we need to start being more watchful about potential problems that may arise. Your pet needs to have semiannual checkups and an annual laboratory screen that is designed to pick up potential health problems before they are too advanced for treatment. One such disease is chronic kidney failure. It is the leading cause of death in both older dogs and cats, but if detected early we can design a treatment plan for the pet which can add many quality years of life. We can get a wealth of information from just a simple blood sample and urine sample. For further information, click here.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery. Periodontal disease is one of the most common diseases that our pets get. By the age of five years it is estimated that 75% of dogs and cats will be afflicted with this disease. It not only leads to bad breath, mouth pain, and reoccurring sore throats, but can have devastating effects on your pet's internal organs, especially the kidneys, leading to chronic kidney failure. No doubt about it, dental care is one of the most important things you can do to help ensure your pet has a long, high quality life. For more information, click here.
