About the Doctor

Hi! I'm Dr. Rodney Yetter.  I have lived in Havana, Illinois most of my life and have strong family roots here.  I enjoy long distance running, hunting, fishing, gardening, and yard work.  I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association, Central Illinois Veterinary Association, Mississippi Valley Veterinary Medical Association, Havana Rotary Club, Havana Chamber of Commerce, and St. John's Lutheran Church.

I have been an animal lover since my early childhood.  I developed very strong bonds with my pets and enjoyed being around the livestock on my Grandpa and Grandma Kleier's farm.

When I was in high school someone suggested that I read "All Creatures Great and Small", by Dr. James  Herriot, and I absolutely fell in love with the idea of being a vet.  My goal became to establish my own veterinary clinic in my hometown.

After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1983, I was employed as an associate veterinarian in Petersburg, Illinois.  In January of 1986 I started my own practice in Havana, operating out of my home.

One of God's greatest blessings came to me the day Mary Jockisch, a local grade school teacher, brought her cat in to see me.  She is an animal lover too, and didn't mind the fact that I had lots of animals coming into my house every day, nor the fact that my kitchen doubled as my exam room.  We were married on June 20, 1986. We have two children that we are very proud of: our son Jacob, and our daughter Haley.

We have several other four legged members of our family: Gracie our dog, Maverick our cat, a horse named Spirit, a goat named Cheerio and lambs. We also have a rabbit, many chickens, a turtle named Tonto, and many kinds of aquarium fish.

In April of 1989 we moved the business out of our home and into a new building, where we are currently located, shown on the welcome page of this website.
